Day 1 – Genesis 1-2
God told them in Eden, “Rule, multiply,”
But they ate from the tree and swallowed a lie.
Day 2 – Genesis 3
So God cursed the snake who urged them to sin,
His skull would be crushed, Eve’s seed-son would win.
Then out of the garden God sent them away,
To labor and toil, then die and decay.
Day 3 - Gen 15, 18:1-15
God said to Abram, “Be a great nation,”
Stars in the dark to bless all creation.
God promised a son, but he couldn’t believe,
He first disobeyed, then made Ishmael leave.
Day 4 - Genesis 22:1-19
God gave him a son but asked for his life,
Abraham trusted—but God stopped his knife.
Day 5 – Exodus 2-3
God’s people in Egypt were slaves a long while,
Then God sent a savior by ark on the Nile.
Raised as a prince, an Egyptian he slayed,
Fled to the east, a redeemer God made.
God spoke in a fire that burned in a tree,
Go say to Pharaoh, “Set My people free.”
Day 6 – Exodus 7:1-9:7
Pharaoh said, “No,” and God’s wrath was released,
Blood, frogs, gnats, flies and the livestock deceased.
Day 7 – Exodus 9:8-12:42
Sores, hail, and locusts, then darkness like night,
The death of the firstborn preceded their flight.
Pharaoh gave in when he found his son dead,
They plundered their captors, from Egypt they fled.
Day 8 – Exodus 14, 17:1-7
With a wall on each side, they walked on dry ground,
They made it across and watched Egypt drown.
Parched in the desert, they wandered about,
Moses struck stone and the water poured out.
Day 9 – Exodus 19-20
In fire and cloud God led them away,
And brought them to Sinai to watch and to pray.
Day 10 – Joshua 3
Their offspring were baptised when forty years passed,
God stopped up the Jordan, they crossed over at last.
Day 11 – Joshua 6-7
They went on to Jericho and marched round and round,
God shattered the walls at the last trumpet sound.
But the next city, Ai, killed 36 men,
Because Achan kept gold—he was stoned for his sin.
Day 12 – Judges 4-5
But the gods became traps, Israel fell into sin,
Pagan altars still stood and a cycle set in.
Idolatry, sorrow, a serpent’s defeat,
Like Jael with Sisera’s crushed head at her feet.
Then singing triumphantly Deborah expressed,
“Among women in tents, Jael is most blest.”
Day 13 – 1 Samuel 8-9
Despising their hope they rejected God’s rule,
So God gave them Saul, a self-serving fool.
Day 14 - 1 Samuel 15-17
God salvaged their hope and chose a new king,
Who crushed a great head with a stone and a sling.
A spirit of fear tormented Saul,
He tried to pin David twice to the wall.
Day 15 – 2 Samuel 2-5
Another son, Ishbosheth, grasped for the crown,
But David and Joab, brought Saul’s kingdom down.
Day 16 – 2 Samuel 8-10
David was sinful but still he was blessed,
His kingdom expanded north, south, east and west.
His son planned a coup and forced David to flee,
The plot failed with Absolom dead in a tree.
Day 17 - 2 Samuel 22-23
Though David’s reign ended in judgment and strife,
He followed God’s heart to the end of his life.
Day 18 – 1 Kings 6
David’s son Solomon, through a sinful affair,
Received peace, wealth, and glory; his judgments were fair.
He built God a house for His name to abide,
But idols and wealth turned his own heart aside.
Day 19 - 1 Kings 12-13
The northern tribes split but their end was forebode,
When a lion-mauled man lay dead on the road.
Day 20 - 1 Kings 16:29-17:24
Six kings were evil, then Ahab was worse,
So God sent Elijah and drought as a curse.
Day 21 - 1 Kings 18
Then came a showdown with the prophets of Baal,
They were all crushed, and it rained with a gale.
Day 22 – Lamentations 1-5
Zion, the widow, with tears in her eyes,
Desolate, anguished, rejected, despised.
Day 23 – Ezekiel 37
Her bones dry as dust, a destitute wife,
But God promised His Spirit would breathe her to life.
Day 24 – Isaiah 27
Isaiah proclaimed that in spite of her sin,
The snake would be crushed, the righteous would win.
Day 25 – Daniel 3
In exile they finally remembered God’s name,
They walked with their Savior through fire and flame.
Day 26 – Daniel 6
Tested and tried with false accusations,
Like stars in the dark, they blessed all the nations.
Day 27 – Daniel 7
God promised to Daniel these beasts would be slain,
The Most High Son of Man forever would reign.
