On this week's episode Joe and Stephen introduce our next series: the book of Genesis. This first week begins with a close reading of Genesis 1:1-5. They move through the passage phrase-by-phrase, looking closely at: "in the beginning," the creation of "the heavens and the earth," the state of the earth when it was "without form and void," and the Spirit of God hovering over the waters. They also explore God's act of creation through speech ("Let there be light"), touching on the nature of God and the pattern of His creative work, including evaluation,naming and dividing.
