Mark 10

On this week's episode Tim and Joe highlight how different people approach Jesus and his surprising responses. The Pharisees unsuccessfully try to trap Jesus on divorce, only to find themselves outsmarted when he appeals to creation rather than the law. The disciples let the Pharisees and a wealthy man through to Jesus, but block the children—the very ones He most eagerly welcomes. They talk about the rich young ruler who confidently asks Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life, only to walk away disappointed when Jesus raises the stakes, asking him to give up his wealth. Finally, Joe and Tim contrast the posture that James and John approach Jesus with (asking him to do whatever they want), and Bartimeus who cries out to Jesus for mercy. Jesus delights to give mercy to those who cry out to Him.
