Worship Service, April 12

Service Location: the Nichols' (4501 S Kalamath St, Englewood)
Time: 10:00am

Dear Church,

We'll have a special meal this Sunday, so no need to bring any food!

It's Eastertide! We'll continue to reflect on the resurrection in the upcoming weeks while also continuing through Genesis. On the podcast Joe and Tim discuss Genesis 20, focusing on the interaction between Abraham and Abimelech. They highlight God's protection over Sarah and the consequences of Abraham's deceptive claim that she is his sister, which leads to Abimelech unknowingly taking her into his harem. Theologically, they emphasize God's sovereignty in choosing to bless Abraham despite his failings, showcasing God's mercy through the swift resolution of the situation and Abimelech's innocence. Joe and Tim also reflect on the dynamics of God's covenant relationship with Abraham, noting the irony that Abraham receives material wealth even in the wake of dishonesty. Ultimately, the episode underscores the idea that God's purposes prevail regardless of human shortcomings, reinforcing themes of mercy and divine justice. Listen to the podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

If you are able to host in the upcoming weeks or months, please sign up here.
