Dear Church,

Our journey through Genesis continues this week in Genesis Chapter 3. On the podcast this week, Joe and Tim discuss Genesis 3:8-15, focusing on the moment after Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit when they first notice their nakedness, cobble together fig‑leaf coverings, and hide from God in the garden. They observe how the shame and fear that drive the couple to cover themselves also spark a series of blame‑shifting conversations—Adam blaming Eve and Eve blaming the serpent—while God’s questions serve to draw out their confession. The hosts highlight the pivotal curse on the serpent, but more importantly the “proto‑evangelium” promise that the woman’s seed will crush the serpent’s head, establishing the theme of future redemption that runs through Scripture. They discuss the symbolism of clothing and nakedness as markers of humanity’s broken state and the need for divine intervention, and they connect this early promise to the larger biblical narrative of Christ as the ultimate seed. Throughout, they note how this account sets the stage for the ongoing conflict between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent, framing the entire Bible as a story of that ultimate victory.
