Dear Church,
Merry Christmas! On the podcast this week, Joe and Stephen discuss John 1:1–14 as a Christmas passage that presents Jesus’ birth not just as a historical event, but as a cosmic new creation with global significance. They explain how John identifies Jesus as the eternal “Word” (Logos), fully God, through whom all things were created and sustained, and who is the source of life and light for humanity. The conversation highlights the contrast between light and darkness, emphasizing that Jesus enters a broken, resistant world, yet the darkness cannot overcome him. They reflect on themes of belief, new birth, and adoption, noting that becoming a child of God is offered to all through faith, not lineage or works. The episode concludes by celebrating the incarnation—“the Word became flesh”—as God dwelling with humanity, bringing grace, truth, hope, and ultimate victory, even amid suffering and rejection.
