Worship Service, February 1

Service Location: the Strawbridges' (2760 S Ogden St, Englewood)
Time: 10:00am

Dear Church,

This week I want to highlight the upcoming Psalm sing with Redeemer Community and other churches on Friday, February 6. This is a great opportunity to spend some time with like-minded Christians and learn some new songs. Also, I'll be teaching the group Easter Anthem, and I'd love to have a few there who know the song as that will make it easier to teach! And if you don't know Easter Anthem, this will be a great opportunity to learn. The Psalm sing will be at Atlas Coffee on South Broadway in Littleton at 6pm.

Our journey through Genesis continues this week. On the podcast, Joe and Tim explore Genesis 14:1–17, explaining how a coalition of eastern kings conquered the region around Sodom, captured Lot, and asserted dominance through tribute. Abram, far from being a lone nomad, is shown as a wealthy patriarch with trained fighting men, alliances, and real military capability. When Lot is taken captive, Abram launches a surprise nighttime attack with 318 trained servants, decisively defeating a much larger army and recovering all the people and goods. Joe and Tim emphasize that this victory marks Abram’s first conquest of the promised land and begins to shape his identity as a warrior-king and rightful heir, even before formal possession. They conclude that Moses includes this story to teach Israel to see themselves as a people with a future—called to trust God, think multi-generationally, and courageously take hold of the land God has promised.
