Dear Church,
We are continuing on in the Genesis this week. On the podcast, Joe and Stephen walk through Genesis 13, focusing on Abram’s return from Egypt, his growing wealth and influence, and his peaceful separation from Lot. They discuss how Abram models faith, patience, and humility by offering Lot first choice of land to avoid conflict, while Lot chooses the fertile Jordan plain near Sodom. They explore the contrast between Abram’s willingness to wait on God’s promises and Lot’s decision to settle near a wicked city, highlighting the long-term spiritual consequences. The conversation emphasizes Abram’s habit of building altars and “calling on the name of the Lord” as both worship and proclamation, showing his role as a faithful witness. The chapter ends with God reaffirming His covenant to Abram, inviting him to walk the land and trust that God’s promises—though slow—are vast, enduring, and certain.
