Dear Church,
Thank you to everyone who showed up at Andersons' this past Saturday! In a half day, we did an amazing amount of work, fed everybody, cleaned up the site, and had a good time doing it. Thank you all, and a particular thank you to Nixon's for donating the coffee that got our day started right!
On this week's episode, Ryan joins the discussion of Genesis 45. Joseph finally reveals his identity: he clears the room, weeping loud enough for Pharaoh's household to hear, and tells his brothers "I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt." He names their sin clearly, and just as clearly acknowledges God's sovereign purpose in all of it: "God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance." Joseph has spent his time in the pit meditating on the covenant promises, and He speaks to God's faithfulness through it all. He kisses every brother -- not just Benjamin -- and gives them all new garments. He demonstrates pastoral care in his instructions for the road home: here is what to tell our father, and do not fall to quarreling on the way. Listen to the podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
